ESI, an employee-owned government contractor located in Bethesda is seeking a Program Manager. This position is for a National Institutes of Health-funded information center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as liaison to the client agency by maintaining ongoing communications, providing progress reports, and responding to requests for service;
  • Oversees program related informational services;
  • Organizes and leads team meetings to review task status, discusses challenges and opportunities, and engages team members and others in discussions related to program improvement;
  • Maintains a current, accurate, and detailed program task timeline for project;
  • Works closely with IT staff regarding establishing and maintaining  website content;
  • Monitors the program budget and individual task budgets;
  • Serves as draft writer and editor for correspondence, documents, and publications before submission for final proofing;
  • Contributes to and coordinates outreach, and media materials;
  • Acts as liaison with other NIH funded related projects to maximize outreach opportunities; and
  • Oversees meeting staff for planning and management of client meetings.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field;
  • Minimum 4 years project management in the health and nutrition field within a resource center environment or organization addressing nutrition and/or obesity issues;
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in public health and emerging technologies in weight-related arenas with understanding of research and best practices;
  • Demonstrable experience with creative approaches to developing and managing health and/or nutrition programs. Management experience that includes designing, implementing, and managing at least one large national project;
  • Familiarity with NIH policies and funding streams related to health;
  • Demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker and planner;
  • Experience working with NIH contracts related to health and nutrition issues; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel advanced features such as linking spreadsheets, graphs and charts.

Job Description:

Kent State University invites applications for a nine-month, full-time non-tenure-track faculty position in Nutrition beginning in fall 2012.  

Responsibilities of the position include: serving as coordinator of the Center of Nutrition Outreach, managing the Center’s budget including billing, purchasing and overseeing grant funding expenditures, supervising undergraduate practicum experiences, serving as preceptor for dietetic interns, teaching undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses in the DPD and Masters/DI programs, undergraduate student recruitment and advising, and service to the campus and community.  Position will include some weekend and evening responsibilities.

Kent State University is committed to providing quality undergraduate and graduate education. The Nutrition and Dietetics program is within the School of Health Sciences within the College of Education, Health and Human Services.  The Nutrition program houses an accredited undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics and an accredited combined dietetic internship/master of science program.  In addition, the School offers the Center of Nutrition Outreach which provides university students and the local community with free dietary and anthropometric assessment as well as general nutrition information and guidance.  The outreach program also provides undergraduate and graduate dietetics students the opportunity to increase their community nutrition and service skills.  

 

Experience/Credentials Needed to Apply:

Required:  Masters in Nutrition, RD, university teaching experience (preferably upper level) and community nutrition programming experience.

Preferred:  Pediatric, weight management, outpatient counseling, and grant experience.

Job Description:

Academic Rank and Salary: Faculty position, at the Assistant Professor level. Nine month, tenure-track research and teaching position. (Initial summer support is available, contingent on the development of a research program in a priority area of the WV Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and the availability of funds). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Responsibilities: This position will contribute to the University's accredited undergraduate didactic program in dietetics and accredited graduate dietetic internship program. The faculty member will be expected to teach courses in undergraduate and graduate nutrition, advise undergraduate and graduate students, develop an innovative research program to complement ongoing research in Animal and Nutritional Sciences and actively seek and obtain external funding to support research activities. Current areas of research include human nutrition and metabolism, obesity & chronic disease prevention across the lifespan, nutrition education, food science, biochemistry and food animal nutrition. Multiple opportunities exist for collaborations among faculty members in human nutrition, food science, biochemistry, animal nutrition and physiology, public health and Extension. 

Qualifications: Required: Doctorate in Human Nutrition or related science and Registered Dietitian (RD). Preferred: Clinical nutrition experience and demonstrated competence in teaching, research and grantsmanship.

Job Description:

Nature of Responsibilities:
Assume the responsibility of ongoing assessment surrounding the nutritional needs of the campus and ensuring the health and nutritional wellbeing of the community. Assist in establishing nutrition-related health priorities, determine a base line to monitor campus change pertaining to eating behaviors, identify emerging nutrition-related issues, identify and strengthen existing resources, and develop and implement plans of action. This includes, but is not limited to, the
development and implementation of a campus assessment on environment and culture surrounding food behaviors and body image. Serve as liaison between Duke Wellness Center and Duke Student Health, ensuring adequate nutrition support throughout the campus, acting to empower and mobilize the student body, and facilitate the development of peer outreach and advocacy groups. Screen, assess, and provide nutrition counseling or appropriate referral to students regarding specific health/nutritional needs. Support healthy lifestyle choices and health maintenance throughout the campus community by working collaboratively with others. Other duties may include occasional guest lecturer for a nutrition class or informal group.

 

Specific Duties
1. Conduct ongoing campus-wide assessment as primary investigator including designing and facilitating focus groups, gathering and summarizing qualitative data for review, preparing assessment data for practical implications and/or publication. 30%
2. Initiate and develop a student-led nutrition internship experience. Serve as supervisor to this group. 30%
3. Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, interpret biochemical and clinical data, and monitor those at nutritional risk, with a special emphasis on the disordered eating population. Make appropriate notations and recommendations in the student#s electronic medical record. Develop treatment plan based on nutrition assessment, which may include some of the following: disordered eating, diabetes, GI concerns, hypertension, abnormal blood lipids, and weight management. Nutritional/behavioral plan may include parental involvement when indicated. Evaluate effectiveness of nutritional recommendations and reviseas needed upon follow-up. 25%
4. Participate in university-organized health events and collaborate with clinical staff on preventative healthcare topics. 10%
5. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein 5%

Qualifications
Registered Dietitian with Bachelor of Science degree is required. Candidates with a minimum of five years pertinent experience, or Master's Degree in Nutritional Sciences (Dietetics), or Public Health Nutrition, and an additional 3 years pertinent experience will be given strong consideration. Pertinent experience may include six months or more of clinically supervised disordered eating/eating disorderexperience (excludes clinical internship), a minimum of one year of clinical experience, experience working with adolescent/young adult population and knowledge of current adolescent growth and development issues. In addition strong community assessment skills as well as networking skills, experience with program initiation, planning, development, implementation are required.
