What is SNE?

The Society for Nutrition Education is a unique organization of professionals who share a common commitment to nutrition education. Join SNE and become an active part of an extensive network of nutrition education experts. Our members include educators, community nutritionists, corporate nutritionists, research nutritionists, health educators, registered dietitians, health care professionals, leaders of school nutrition programs, communications professionals, extension educators, students, and retirees. Become an integral part of this extensive network and begin receiving the many SNE benefits.

SNE Membership Categories

Choose From One of the Following Membership Categories:

Professional Member

Must have at least ONE of the following:

  1. A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nutrition, food, or a related field from an ac-credited institution; OR
  2. Minimum of a baccalaureate degree in any field with two or more years of experience in health, food, agriculture, education, communications, or nutrition-related position(s) AND either an approved credential from - or membership in - a related organization (such as AS-FSA, AAFCS, IFT, ADA).

Applicants who do not meet the above criteria may request an exemption from the Board of Directors. Only Professional Members are eligible to hold elected office.

Dues: $190*

Member

Individuals who do not qualify for Professional membership, but have at least TWO of the following qualify for Member status:

  1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in any field;
  2. Two or more years of experience in health, food, agriculture, education, communications, or nutrition-related position(s);
  3. Associate degree from an accredited culinary, technical school, or community college;
  4. Sponsorship by a current SNE Professional Member (Please attach a letter).

Members of this category are not eligible to hold SNE office.

Dues: $190*

Retired Member

To qualify for retired member-ship, you must be at least 55 years of age, retired, and have been either a Regular or Professional Member or a Member for at least one year.

Dues: $104*

International Member

A reduced rate has been instituted for individuals who qualify for Professional Member or Member categories, who are employed in a foreign nation designated as “Low Income,” “Lower Middle Income” and “Upper Middle Income” according to the World Bank, and whose salary is based on the local economy.  Membership includes an electronic subscription to JNEB and reduced registration fee for the Annual Meeting.

Note:  The following web site provides a list of the countries that qualify: http://www.worldbank.org/data/countryclass/classgroups.htm.  Individuals from countries classified as “High Income” are expected to pay the regular membership rate of $170.

Student Member

Individuals who are registered as full-time students or are actively working on a degree at an accredited college or university are eligible for student membership. All students must have their membership application signed by a faculty member to verify student status.

Dues: $60*

 

First Year Professional Member

Make SNE your home professional organization!  For a limited time, SNE is offering students making the transition from student to professional a "First Year Professional" membership rate.

Dues: $95*

Organizational Membership

SNE Organizational members are an important network of organizations that share commitment to SNE's mission to promote healthful, sustainable food choices and SNE's vision of healthy people in healthy communities. They demonstrate their interest in supporting the Society's goals by investing in the Society annually. Organizational members benefit by association with the Society for Nutrition Education, whose reputation is one of broad vision and commitment to the public good. Organizational members enjoy the benefits of representation at a corporate reception which provides a forum for the exchange of ideas that help SNE leaders shape the Society's agenda and partnership programs, and one complimentary annual meeting registration. Other benefits to Organizational Members include:

  1. Regular member privileges for an eligible representative or associate member privileges for a designated representative;
  2. Access to leading nutrition educators worldwide for networking and problem solving;
  3. Annual subscriptions to the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and the Communicator;
  4. Acknowledgment in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and annual meeting program book;
  5. Reduced advertising rates in the JNEB when combined with annual meeting program advertisement;
  6. First option on annual meeting sponsorship; and
  7. Access to SNE's mailing list, discounted for corporate friends.
