Position Title: Asst./Assoc. Professor and Director, Coordinated Program in Dietetics

Job Description:
The School of Family and Consumer Sciences, University of Idaho, has a 12-month fiscal year tenure track position open for an Assistant/Associate Professor. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide oversight of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD); chair the CPD steering committee.
  • Evaluate and initiate changes in the curriculum to reflect current CADE Eligibility Requirements and Accreditation standards.
  • Maintain communication with ADA and CADE.
  • Work with CPD faculty to develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with medical, community nutrition, food service management, and alternative facility preceptors and to arrange supervised practice placements.
  • Travel to Lewiston, Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Boise, and other supervised practice locations as needed.
  • Teach Food and Nutrition degree program courses, including advanced nutrition and introduction to clinical nutrition.

Required:

  • Doctorate in nutrition, dietetics, or related discipline.
  • Registered Dietitian and licensed in the State of Idaho within 6 months of hire.

Position Title: Director, Extension FCH Nutrition Education Program

The Department of Extension-Family and Community Health at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Professional Faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean. The individual in this position will be the Principal Investigator (P.I.) of both the EFNEP and OFNP programs, and will work with an Extension FCH campus team as well as FCH field-based faculty in Oregon's county Extension offices. This position is responsible to the Extension FCH Program Leader.

The incumbent will provide program leadership by developing procedures, program planning, proposal development, budget management, and analyzing data and reporting on program outcomes. The incumbent will collaborate with several agency and organizational partners to achieve program goals.

The Consumer Studies Team (CST), Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is seeking applications to fill Consumer Science Staff Fellow position(s). Multiple selections may be made. The salary will be equivalent to the General Schedule-12 (GS-12) level (annual salary: $74,872-$97,333) or GS-13 level (annual salary: $89,033-$115,742). The CFSAN formulates national regulatory policy on the safety and labeling of food and cosmetic products. The CST applies social science techniques to plan, implement, analyze, evaluate policy-oriented consumer research for the Center and provides expert social science advice to CFSAN and other FDA units. This research focuses on, but is not limited to, consumer and industry response to nutrition and food safety issues, including nutrition labeling, warning labels, risk communication, and consumer education.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, University of North Dakota has a nine-month tenure track position open for an Assistant Professor. Responsibilities for the successful candidate include: teaching undergraduate courses in medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, others depending on expertise and interest; supervising students in experiential practice; conducting scholarly activities, including grant writing; providing university and professional service.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is located in the College of Nursing.  Undergraduate degrees are granted in Dietetics and in Community Nutrition.  There are 5.0 FTE faculty and approximately 100 undergraduate majors and 20 minors. The dietetics program is fully accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. Position Title: Instructor/Assistant Professor

Job Description:
This position will direct the Integrated Nutrition Education Program (INEP), funded by the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed). The successful candidate will conduct research, and seek new grants relating to school and community child nutrition issues. The director will collaborate with health and human services, institutions and educational organizations. Strong management and communication skills are essential.

Job responsibilities include:

  1. Manage SNAP-ED which equates to approximately $2.3 million in federal funds and $2.3 million in cost share dollars, totaling $4.6 million annually:
    1. Supervise Fiscal Manager, co-develop annual budget and year-end budge report; oversee quarterly fiscal reviews, direct cost analysis and budget revisions;
    2. Oversee communication with CSU Office of Sponsored Programs, UCD-AMC Office of Grants and Contracts, and the State Dept of Human Services (SNAP-Ed office);
    3. Know and understand federal SNAP-Ed Guidance; maintain communication with MPRO as needed/requested and MPR states; and oversee USDA Management Evaluation reviews.
  2. Direct INEP Program Delivery reaching over 32,000 low-income children and families annually:
    1. Supervise Program Director, co-develop annual growth plan and oversee collection and reporting of final data regarding school/classroom program delivery state-wide; monitor INEP program delivery;
    2. Supervise Distribution Manager, co-develop annual product purchasing and distribution plan; monitor food/paper/materials distribution and expenditures; 
    3. Supervise Parent Education Manager, co-develop annual parent education plan and oversee data collection and reporting of program delivery state-wide; oversee parent education components;
    4. Compile annual INEP proposal/plan and year-end report with input from program managers;
    5. Direct staffing changes and determine on-going organizational structure; supervise four program managers and their staff, a total of approximately 24 FTE equivalents;
    6. Oversee INEP web site development.
  3. Oversee three other current/pending grants, equivalent to approximately $1.5 million.
  4. Conduct research relating to community and child nutrition:
    1. Determine research questions to be investigated; develop and implement an evaluation plan in partnership with a research team;
    2. Oversee evaluation contractors/staff for data collection, entry, analysis, and compilation of final outcomes data;
    3. Oversee COMIRB applications and renewals for all grants;
    4. Write and publish research outcomes; present outcomes at recognized professional meetings.
  5. Seek new grants relevant to school/community nutrition programs and research:
    1. Investigate new funding possibilities; write new grants as determined to be appropriate;
    2. Oversee completion of non-federal grant components and reporting requirements.
  6. Collaborate with health and human services organizations, universities, and other education-related organizations in relation to community/child nutrition efforts.

Experience/Credentials Needed to Apply:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in nutrition or related science, public health, or health program management
  • 5+ years experience managing complex programs and organizations including budget and financial development and management; evidence of direct fiscal responsibility and accountability
  • Record of achievement/experience in nutrition or health-related research setting; evidence of professional publications and/or presentations
  • 5+ years experience in staff supervision; responsible for staff hiring/firing
  • Computer literacy; skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Power Point

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD or PhD in nutrition or related science, public health, or health program management
  • Registered dietitian
  • Knowledge of/experience with federally-funded programs, preferably nutrition-related
  • Success in attaining and managing grant funds
  • Evidence of broad coalition involvement and/or collaborative efforts with health and human services organizations, universities, and other education-related organizations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nutrition programs: budgets, regulations, program requirements, audits
  • Knowledge of nutrition behavior change theories, effective public health programs, and related research
  • Excellent written and communication skills, specifically related to public speaking and teaching
