Two types of abstracts, two presentation formats, and two submission deadlines are available.

Abstract Types

1. Research: Appropriate submissions include original research related to nutrition, nutrition education and nutrition behavior.  The abstract submission form includes the following subheadings.

  • Objective
  • Design, Setting and Participants
  • Intervention (leave blank if no intervention was conducted)
  • Outcome Measures and Analysis
  • Results
  • Conclusions and Implications

2. Programs, Teaching Tools and Educational Approaches: Appropriate submissions include programs, demonstrations, teaching and research tools, games, models, educational materials, teaching techniques and networking ideas.  The abstract submission form includes the following subheadings.

  • Objective
  • Use of theory or research
  • Target audience
  • Description
  • Evaluation
  • Conclusions and Implications

Presentation Formats

1. Oral: Papers centered on common topics will be selected for group oral presentation, each about 10 minutes.

2. Poster: Poster presentations allow presenters to discuss their research with interested colleagues over a period of 90 minutes in an informal setting.

Submission Deadlines

1. Standard Submission: Regular abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on January 17, 2010.

  1. Authors must pay be credit card or mail a check for $25, payable to SNE with the full name of the lead author and abstract submission number clearly noted on the check. Download payment form (Right click the link, select Save Target as).
  2. The check must be postmarked on or before January 17, 2010.
2. Late Breaking Abstracts:
  1. Abstracts submitted between January 18 at 12:01 AM and March 1, 2010 at 11:59 PM will be considered Late Breaking.
  2. Late Breaking Abstracts must follow rules for Standard Submission abstracts.
  3. Late Breaking Abstracts and Standard Abstracts will undergo equivalent peer review.
  4. Authors must mail a check for $50, payable to SNE with the full name of the lead author and abstract submission number clearly noted on the check.
  5. The check must be postmarked on or before March 1, 2010. Late breaking posters and oral presentations will be scheduled on the last day of the conference or earlier if space permits. Download payment form (Right click the link, select Save Target as).
