Executive Committee Meeting via Teleconference
February 23, 2006
3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Present: Patricia Kendall, Robin Orr, Debra Keenan, Carol Giesecke, Shirley Gerrior, Mary Ann Passi, ex officio and SNE staff.
Call to order: P. Kendall called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.
Welcome and President's Comments: P. Kendall welcomed the members of the Executive Committee.
Approval of Agenda: P. Kendall requested the addition of the Member Survey to Old Business and ACPP's request for guidance on Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) letter to New Business. R. Orr moved approval of the Agenda with these additions. The motion passed unanimously.
Consent Agenda: S. Gerrior moved approval of the Consent Agenda. The motion passed unanimously.
Strategic Dialogue:
Annual Conference Update: R. Orr reported that all session program proposals have been reviewed; sponsors and exhibitors are being contacted for support. MA Passi reported San Francisco hotels with workers in Unite Here union continue to serve clientele without incident. She will develop talking points on union issues for proactive communication to SNE members for review by Executive Committee.
SNEF Leadership Succession: P Kendall reported that both F. Colletta and K. Mahon want to step down from SNEF leadership due to changes in employment responsibilities. M.A. Passi and SNEF officers are developing a succession plan, trustee criteria and potential replacement candidates.
Credentials for Professional/Paraprofessionals: Executive Committee members reviewed and discussed the credentialing criteria and process for several professional/paraprofessionals organizations similar to SNE. D. Keenan and P. Kendall agreed to visit with University Deans and Department Heads on professional needs and R. Orr with FSNE, EFNEP and WIC coordinators on paraprofessionals needs to determine next steps for presentation at July AC. P. Kendall will include message on this issue in the March/April President's column and ask L. Berlin to discuss on upcoming Division leaders conference call
SNE Staff Update: Andrea Danz will replace L. Justin as SNE's Director of Marketing and Membership in March.
Old Business:
Member Survey: Staff will prepare an online survey for members to request input re: conference site location, time of year, etc. The Executive Committee discussed parameters of the survey and staff will implement changes and post for SNE members.
New Business:
ACPP Approval of letter supporting CSFP: Executive Committee requested that ACPP respond to this letter in the framework of the entire 2007 Farm Bill with a look at all Food and Nutrition Assistance and Nutrition Education Programs.
Request for SNE consultation: Staff was contacted for SNE to consult for a children's cartoon and requested more information.
Adjournment: R. Orr motioned to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
